LEA holds 5th Annual Awards celebration

London Enterprise Academy held its 5th Annual Awards Celebration at the schools events hall. Almost 600 people including students, staff, parents and governors were present to celebrate the achievements and progress of pupils in academic, sporting and other school related experiences.

The awards were presented by Principal Ashid Ali along with special guest Cllr Victoria Obaze, Speaker of London Borough of Tower Hamlets

The Awards event also included a range of pupil’s performances in Tabla, drumming and exhibition of the schools trip to Seville in Spain.

Speaker Obaze was pleased to see the achievements of pupils in her ward of Whitechapel and congratulated the pupils on their achievements.  She emphasised the importance of hard work and aiming high in life.

Principal Ashid Ali shared a summary of the schools successes this year and is very positive about the school’s first set of GCSE results. Many of the students at London Enterprise Academy have won national awards in mathematics, speaking competitions, published work in books, sporting successes and contribution to community and charity.

Ashid Ali went on to state that many students this year have been on residential trips, university visits, museums, galleries and theatres which is all part of learning and growing up. Some of the students have won local and regional sporting competitions which we are really proud of.

The school on Commercial Street was set up as a FREE school in 2014 and has gone from strength. Ashid Ali explains that his secret to the success is the great teachers in the classrooms supported by a team of dedicated support staff professionals. He showed his passion and thanked the Staff, students and parents for their continued support. Principal Ashid Ali has promised parents that the school will build on these strengths and pupils will go on to achieve great things in life. He wants to inspire all students to go to University and aim to secure jobs in the City of London and Canary wharf along with the well regarded professions such as medicine, law, finance as well as becoming entrepreneurs.

He congratulated all the award winners and reminded them about the importance of studying in the holidays so that they don’t fall behind in their learning. He also encourages local families looking for school places to come and visit as he knows he has created something special for the children of Tower Hamlets and the surrounding area. Mr Ali states, you get one chance in secondary education and you must enjoy the learning journey and gain the qualifications to move on to the next step of the ladder. You must become learners for life.

 

Principal Ashid Ali finished off by saying, “I am a believer that the power of education can transform individuals, families and community. I am a product of this and with a good education, your children can enjoy the success and rewards of this great city”.
